Tony Feher: Wall Show
May 2 – June 20, 2009
Opening Reception: Saturday May 2, 6-8pm

D’Amelio Terras is pleased to present a Front Room exhibition of works by Tony Feher. “Wall Show” is the first exhibition to focus on sculptures specifically intended for the wall.

Feher continues to relentlessly exploit the individual characteristics of his chosen materials, allowing them to express something contingent to that material. His understanding and use of found and re-purposed materials is intuitive and inventive. Hung by pins or a nail, weightless fibers can drift, pliant synthetics can sway and metal can awkwardly dangle. Feher’s wall works often share a natural resilience as they benefit as much from a fastening knot as they do an instigating breeze.

Tony Feher’s sculptures are in numerous public collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle, and the Museum of Modern Art in Fort Worth, Texas. In May of 2009, Tony Feher will participate in exhibitions at ACME in Los Angeles, California and at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge, England. In 2008, Feher had solo exhibitions at Anthony Meier Fine Art, San Francisco and at Pace Wildenstein and D’Amelio Terras in New York. In 2007, Feher exhibited “Some Time Soon” at the Art Museum of South Texas, Corpus Christi and "A Single Act of Carelessness Will Result in the Eternal Loss of Beauty," was the inaugural exhibition in the Efroymson Pavilion at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. He exhibited in “Poetic Justice,” the 8th International Istanbul Biennial and in 2005 was a featured artist at the Chinati Foundation, Marfa, Texas.
