The idea for this exhibition began with a conversation nearly a year ago, and in the spirit of conviviality stretched far and wide encompassing many more objectives than could be accounted for by a single show. Barath, Cahn, Gronemeyer, Mackler, Messager, Prangenberg, and Saulson’s works have been significant to our dialogue, but the correlation among their practices cannot nor should be defined. We admire each artist for different reasons, be it their capability with craft or the prurient sense of peculiar motivations. The title ‘Forget About the Sweetbreads’ comes from a Cosby Show episode where Bill, after explaining to his youngest daughter Rudy the origins of several menu items in a fancy French restaurant, admits defeat – de-mystifies no longer.
